How to send a proposal to a client

Last updated 2026-05-08

Two ways to deliver a proposal. Both share the same audit trail; the only difference is who hits "send".

Option 1 — Email send (default)

In the proposal editor, click Review & Send in the top-right pill.

  1. Confirm the client's email address (auto-filled if you set it earlier)
  2. Click Send
  3. Wintura sends a branded email via Resend with a one-click "View Proposal" button

The proposal status flips from draft to sent only after the email is actually accepted by Resend. If sending fails (bounced address, Resend outage), you'll see a toast: "Email failed to send. Please try again, or copy a magic link instead." Status stays draft so you can retry without confusion.

Every send attempt is logged with success/failure and timestamps in the database.

Option 2 — Magic link

In the same modal, switch to the Magic Link tab. One click and you get a copy-paste URL that:

  • Has the same access token the email would have included
  • Marks the proposal as sent
  • Logs the same engagement events when the client opens it

Use this when you want to deliver via Slack, iMessage, your own email, or alongside a personal note.

Tracking

Once a client opens the proposal:

  • Status flips from sentviewed
  • The dashboard pipeline card shows the open count + time-on-page per section
  • You see the client's progress through the document in real-time

Retry on failure

If a send fails for any reason, the proposal stays in draft. The retry button is available immediately — there's no rate limit on retries to the same proposal.

What clients see

The link opens a paper-canvas proposal page that mirrors what you preview in the editor. Clients can scroll, leave inline comments, and click Sign to e-sign with name + email. No login required for them.
